Peconic Bay Medical Center’s Hospital Medicine Specialists deliver expertise along with personalized care.
Hospital Medicine Specialists are specialists in hospital medicine, which means they have a detailed knowledge of Peconic Bay Medical Center’s technological, diagnostic, and treatment resources to make sure patients receive the best care possible.
Often referred to as Hospitalists, they are highly trained, experienced medical professionals: Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Certified Nurse Practitioners.
A Hospital Medicine Specialist is not a doctor-in-training like an intern or resident. In fact, he or she is likely to also be a medical school professor or medical-practice educator who lends a hand in training new practitioners.
At Peconic Bay Medical Center, each patient is assigned a specific team of Hospital Medicine Specialists so there is always an experienced medical professional who is familiar with each patient’s clinical plan of care on duty 24 hours a day.
They improve our hospital’s quality of care.
Studies have shown that patients who are cared for by Hospital Medicine Specialists receive better care. They have better outcomes, are discharged sooner, and have fewer post-discharge problems or readmissions.
